      Pretend aurora

See a made-up aurora night. Real data stays untouched.

      How the score works

Three things have to line up: the aurora has to be active, the sky clear, and it has to be dark. The score multiplies them, so any one of them at zero means zero, just like outside.

      Privacy

Glimmr has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your place is saved only on your own phone.

When you tap "I saw it!", the app sends the time, how strong it was, and your position rounded to about 1 km. Everyone can see that on the map for 12 hours, and it is deleted after 48 hours. It is not linked to your name or phone.

To stop one person flooding the map, the server also keeps a scrambled code made from your internet address (the address itself is never stored) for 48 hours.

Your chosen place, or your exact spot if you ask for it, is sent to our server only to fetch the cloud forecast, and is not stored. Cloudflare, which hosts Glimmr, keeps ordinary server logs. The map pictures come from OpenStreetMap and fonts from Google Fonts and some app code from jsDelivr and cdnjs, so they can see your internet address like any website you visit. Full privacy policy
